What is bruxism?
Bruxism is the involuntary habit of clenching or grinding teeth, usually during sleep, although it can also happen during the day. It is often related to stress and anxiety.
Common symptoms
- Wear of tooth enamel.
- Pain in the jaw, neck, or head upon waking.
- Tooth sensitivity.
- Sleep disturbances.
Treatment: The occlusal splint
The most effective treatment to protect teeth is the occlusal splint (night guard). It is a custom-made transparent resin device placed on the upper or lower arch to prevent direct contact between teeth and relax the jaw muscles.
At Somriures Dental, we digitally design your splint for a perfect fit and greater comfort.
