What is internal dental whitening?
Internal whitening is an aesthetic dental treatment performed inside non-vital teeth, that is, those that have previously undergone a root canal. When a non-vital tooth has suffered significant staining and has darkened, at Somriures Dental Gavà we apply this technique to the internal structures of the tooth to restore its natural color.
Difference from external whitening
External whitening is performed on the entire denture to remove surface stains. In contrast, the internal whitening technique works inside the tooth, in the pulp chamber, and is only performed on specific non-vital teeth.
How is it performed?
- Diagnosis: We evaluate the condition of the tooth and check the previous root canal.
- Whitening agent: We access the interior of the tooth and apply a whitening gel.
- Temporary sealing: We seal the tooth temporarily so the gel can act for a few days.
- Review: After a few days, we evaluate the result and seal permanently if the desired color is achieved.
If you are concerned about a darkened tooth, do not hesitate to visit us in Gavà for an assessment.
