First aid for a blow to the teeth
A blow to the mouth can happen at any time, whether playing sports in Gavà or due to a domestic accident. Dr. Lorena Rosado explains that acting quickly is key to saving the tooth.
Steps to follow
- Stay calm: Check if the tooth is broken or has fallen out entirely (avulsion).
- If the tooth has fallen out: Pick it up by the crown (the white part), never by the root.
- Keep it moist: Ideally, transport it in a glass of milk or saline solution. If you don't have any, inside your own mouth (being careful not to swallow it).
- Go to the dentist immediately: Time is gold. At Somriures Dental, we attend to dental emergencies in Gavà, Viladecans, and Castelldefels.
Possible treatments
Depending on the severity, treatment can range from a simple aesthetic reconstruction with composite to a root canal or splinting. The important thing is that you come to see us as soon as possible.
